Journey with Jo on her weight loss adventure....

I was very apprehensive about posting pictures like these. So for any of you out there who get squemish maybe you better not look. Yes I am posting pictures of my Weight loss so far.

We started going to Weight Watchers on Wednesday November 5, 2008. When we first started I didn't even think about taking a "Before" picture but I did start having Roger take my picture a few weeks later. I am glad now that I had him take them.

Here is my first pictures taken November 30, 2008 (3 weeks)

I have so many more weeks to go, well actually I have more like years to go but I am looking at it in small increments. If I just said I need to loose 150 pounds then just loosing 1-2 pounds a week would just seem like nothing. But when I give myself small goals to attain it seems easier. Right now I want to get to 50 pounds lost by the time my son Matthew leaves for Boot camp. He leaves the 1 of June. I have 7 pounds to go to reach that goal.

I have been looking for things to motivate me and a nice blogger friend(thanks Tracy) left me a website of a person who lost over 200 pounds. I went and visited her site and I told my husband just after being at her site for oh about 10 seconds that she is now my most favorite person in the world!!!! It is so inspiring to see people who loose large amounts of weight.I have already put her book on hold at the library!! Thought I am sure my husband will be buying it for me very soon(hint, hint)~Yes he reads my Blog~

When I find anyone wether a real life person, or a person online (blogging etc...) that is trying to loose weight I try to read all I can about how they are doing it and what is working for them and what isn't. I want to be encouraging to them and I also get encouragement from them. When you are doing Weight Watchers you really start to watch what you eat and what size of portions you have. I really like that about the program.

Here is an excerpt from my journal the first few days on the program

Taken from my journal *Wed. NOv. 5, 2008*

"This is so hard for me to do! I am so glad Roger is doing it with me."

"I was hungry all day" (I also had a sad face drawn after this statement)

"I am so used to snacking all the time. I am praying for this to get easier."

My journal *Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008*

"Today was another hard day. Roger went to work and I was so tmepted to cheat and eat something extra, but then thought about Roger and he only had what was in his lunch. I figured if he didn't have anything extra I shouldn't either."

"Late afternoon was HARD!"

"All I do is think of points and food all day long."

My journal *Saturday, Nov. 8 2008

"Today was hard again. I try not to think about food, but I just can't. I almost got our scale out to weigh myself to just see if I had lost anything. When I go to weigh in on Wednesday what am I going to do if I haven't lost anything!!??

This all came from just the first week of going to Weight Watchers.

I am planning on posting more of my journey as the weeks go on. Maybe share some more from my journal entries and maybe some more pictures.

Besides my husband being my #1 supporter and encourager. I have also gotten quite a bit of support and encouragement from many nice people out there in blogland. I also get a tremdous amount of encouragement and support from my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. There have been many times that just reading from the Word has helped me get through an especially hard time. I pray daily that I will make wise choices when I eat. I also pray for my husband who is on his own weight loss journey.

I have lots of back pain so walking has always been very painful. Roger walks our dog and I haven't been able to go with him because of this. I am hoping when I loose a little more I will be able to join him. I am not much into any other form of exercise but I do work on crafts and it does keep me from eating in the evenings. When I sit down with something to embroider and my hands are busy it's much easier not to think about food.

Blessings,Joann

  2. You look awesome!!! 43 pounds is a huge accomplishment. You are wise to take it in small increments.
Do you watch Biggest Loser? Even if you do not, tonight's show is worth the watch. ALL the contestants will show themselves LIVE after their journey. It is incredibly inspiring. Starts at 7pm my time....California, not too sure. It is a 3 hour program tonight and is aired live, so I assume it would start at 5pm your time. I will be at a softball game for the beginning of it, but will be taping it. My goal is to catch up when I get home by zooming through the commercials. Something about knowing I am watching it LIVE...Sweetheart thinks I am nuts.

  4. Wow, girl! You look great! Keep up the good work. Glad you found Kim Bensen's site to be as inspiring as I did. = ) My Grandma used to say something when I was a little girl...at the time it would make me roll my eyes...but I can't tell you how many times it played in my head during my own weight loss journey...ready? "Yard by yard, life is hard. Inch by inch, life's a cinch!" Cheesy, but oh so true. Just keep your focus on those little losses 1-2 pounds. Before long, they add up to BIG ONES! = ) Praying for your continuing success!
