On Tuesday this past week I took Mandy to the vet for her spaying surgery. I picked her up Wednesday morning, she came home and started licking her inscision area. I called the vet and they said that wasn't good and to keep her from doing that. Well it is very hard to keep a puppy from licking unless you hold them every moment and since I couldn't do that of course the area opened back up. Saturday morning she was back at the vets office and they put some surgical glue on the spot and put a collar on her. She was not very happy about that. She is still trying to get it off but she has to wear it until next weekend.
This is her before going to the vet on Saturday~
And this is her after going to the vet on Saturday~
On Friday we started the flooring project, Roger worked all day including overtime and still came home and started tearing carpet out. This is the hallway with the ugly old carpet~
Here is the hallway after the carpet was pulled up~
The hallway done except for the trim~
THis is looking from the hallway into the living room~
The living room before~
The living room during~
Roger worked very hard and by Sunday night it was all done!
The living room all done~
I think the new flooring looks so nice with the black tv stand and bookcases~
I love the look of the new flooring and it has made the house look so pretty and light with the light colored floor.
I was also lucky enough to see Katie and Jennifer this weekend, here is a cute picture I took of Katie by the pool~
Have a wonderful week ahead
Blessings,Joann

I know this little video isn't the best quality but the sound is fine. Hope you enjoy. May you have a great memorial day and just stop for a moment and think of your freedom and where it comes from.

A visit from my Mom and sister and now a headache!!
Yesterday my Mom and sister stopped by for a few minutes after my sister had a doctors appointment here in town. Now don't get me wrong I love my family with all my heart but sometimes I would just love to smack them up side the head a few times~Anyone else out there feel like that once in a while.
I am a stay at home, homekeeper. I do not work outside the home but I do work vey hard at being a homekeeper. I do not do it correctly all the time but I give it my best everyday. I do not always get everything done that I have on my list but still I strive everyday to give it my all and to do it joyfully!!
My family have seemed to treat me differently after I got married and after my brother died. I had sent them all a letter about my relationship with Jesus Christ and now feel like I have been branded the black sheep of the family.
Roger and I Love each other very much and enjoy each others company. I enjoy being home on a daily basis, I am not a shopper, I do not enjoy leaving my home and being gone all day to come home and have nothing ready for dinner. I pride myself in the fact that I am a good helpmeet to my husband. I work on dinner prep most of the day, no I am not in the kitchen cooking all day but getting things ready. I know what we are having for dinner before 5pm.
When my mom and sister visited yesterday it was around 4:30 or 5pm and one of their questions was do you have to wait and eat with Roger when he gets home or are you allowed to go to get something to eat with us? This is not the first time that I have had to answer to this type of question. first I don't HAVE to wait for Roger, I do so because I like to eat with him. second I don't need his permission to go somewhere. Does this satisfy their inquiry of course not, they just seem to ignore what I have said and keep bringing it up over and over.
The next thing, we Roger and I and the rest of the family were invited by a dear friend to a show that his school is putting on but it's at 6:30pm on Friday night, I said that we would love to go but that Roger doesn't even get home until about 7:30 or 8pm. so now they are wondering why can't I go without him. It's not that I can't go it's I would rather be with my husband.
I am not a servant as in a slave to my husband I do not fetch his slippers when he walks in the door but I do try to serve him as his helpmeet.MY husband leaves our home every m-f very early in the morning around 6AM he drives about 2 hours to his job and then comes home very late with another 2 hour drive he has been working 11 hours a day so totally that comes to 15 hours he is gone so when he comes home I like him to come home to a very clean and organized home with dinner ready for him when he gets here. I don't think that is too much to ask after he has worked so hard all day long.
The last question or concern that my mom had was when they were leaving, she said well come over and visit when you have nothing to do, I said I have tons of things to do so don't know when I will be able to visit, and her response was well would it hurt if you don't do those things for one day. I know she doesn't understand me but for me yes putting off todays things only make it to where I would have twice as much to do tomorrow. I like the fact that our home is clean, not spotless but nice and clean. I don't worry if someone where to drop by unannounced, because I keep my home clean.I like the fact that Roger and I do things together and enjoy doing things together. I have another sister who is married and for the past 10 years I have seen very little of things that her and her husband do together. I would never want a marriage like that, but they like it that way and are happy so I don't say anything about it.
THe thing that really just bugs me is the fact that I keep getting asked the same questions over and over and even after explaining the answer they still keep asking.
They are not Christians so maybe that has something to do with it. I don't know all I know is that I am tired of the stupid questions.
Sorry to all of my blog readers but I just had to get that off my chest!!
Blessings,Joann

Mother's day gifts and Jennifer's birthday party
I didn't make a post after Mother's day because believe it or not I did not take any pictures :(
I did however take a few pictures of the purse I got and what I gave Jennifer.
My new purse~
Jennifer's Mother's day gift~
The back of her gift~
Jennifer drinks lots of coffee and loves cups, I thought this particular cup was just so cute, very girlie looking and she also loves Faith Hill so anything the the word Faith on it is something she would love.
Thursday I was waiting for our new flooring to be delivered and here it is, lots and lots of it~
Here is a close up of it, the name of the color is something like splatted beach, I like it because it is nice and light~
I know it will be a big project for Roger to do but I am sure as always it will get done beautifully. He also installed the last door, we have now replaced every old door including closet doors, that is a total of 15 doors, three or four of them are steel outside doors and the rest are all inside doors that are white with 6 panels on them. Makes the house look newer with the old dark doors gone.
Saturday we had a get together for Jennifer's birthday, I had asked first if her and Chris had made any plans for her birthday but they hadn't and so we offered to give her a party after all we are her parents! We had at first planned on just having some cake but then Roger decided to go ahead and have dinner too. We ended up having BBQ chicken (Roger is the best BBQ er I know) a big salad and some corn on the cob. We had 12 people including Roger's mom and a very good friend of the family named Bill.
Katie came as cute as she always is~
And she can always find the dirtiest place to play :) We have all the nice pretty grass we put in and she still found a small dirt area to play in ~
Here she is trying to look out our back gate at the park behind our home~
After dinner was cake time and present time. I had ordered Jennifer an Amy Knapp Christian family organizer just like mine but they haven't gotten here yet so we just gave her a card and also Roger had made a couple of Cd's for her. One was Point of Grace and the other was Kutless
Here is the cake~
And here is Jennifer, Katie and the cake~
So that's what's been going on around here. Praying that everyone has a wonderful Week ahead.
Blessings,Joann

My apologies to one and all...
I have been so busy lately I have not been keeping up with people whom I consider to be my treasured friends. Please accept my apology. We now have official confirmation that Mattie will be deploying mid to late August for a year and a half to Southern Iraq. My mind has been on very little else since I found out. No emailing people, not making phone calls that I would like to make and no sending letters or cards. I would like to ask you all to please keep my Mattie in your prayers and me too, I seem to be a basket case most of the time now. I almost wish I wouldn't have found out he was going until about a week ahead, now I have months to think about it and so far that has not been going well.
We are celebrating Mother's day tomorrow at a park we have always gone to for Mother's day. Jennifer, Chris and the kids will be there and the rest of my family. I hope to have pictures to post this weekend.
We also ordered and should have delivered this coming week our new flooring for the living room and hallway. We ordered Pergo in a nice light color. It will be a big job to put in but knowing my wonderful husband it will look beautiful when it's done.
Happy Mother's day to all my friends near and far.
Blessings,Joann

The door is done!!
I am one very happy wife right now. MY wonderful hard working husband has put the new back door in.
To give you and idea of how dark our living room is without a light on in the daytime here is a picture I took after the old door was taken out and the new one hadn't been put in yet~
In this next picture the door is in but not finished~
I took this photo with the overhead light on and it still seems dark to me. I am a person who loves light and air, Roger is completely opposite, he could care less if the whole house were dark and no fresh air and many times complains when I open a door or window in the end I usually win. I happen to be someone who gets hot fast, and he is not, I am always telling him if he is cold then put on a sweatshirt, when I am down to a shirt and shorts that's pretty much as far as I can go before I am naked!! Even when going to bed I have the bedroom windows open and he will be wearing sweat pants and sweatshirt and have all the blankets up around his neck and here I am with basically just a nightgown on and just a sheet and I still think it's hot. I also in the summer sleep with the ceiling fan on wich seems to help me because I like air flowing around me. Anyway enough about my air and light situation :)
Here is the finished door~
Isn't it beautiful, I love the fact that it has a window and a screen, mainly so I can get both light and air in the house but also you can see the backyard when you walk into our home now. I can also keep and eye on the dogs when they are outside without having to open the door. I think our cat won't like it too much because he loves to look outside, but he can still see out the front door.
Have a wonderfule weekend fellow blogger friends

Dylan got an award at school for being caring!!
I went over to Jennifer's yesterday to go to Dylan's school for their assembly. Dylan was getting an award and this was important for me to be there. Roger wished he could have gone but he had to work. The award was for Caring showing care to another child or adult. For Dylan this is such a good thing, he has been struggling with ADHD for a while now and I am so proud of him for his accomplishments. He is a wonderful child.
Here he is with his award~
Here is a picture of both of us~
We went out to Lowes the other night and bought our new back door, I really like it because it has a screen and window built into it. Our house is very dark most of the time and anything that will let light in is great. Now we don't have to have the door open and a screen door. I can get both light and air from this new window in the door. Roger is working on it right now as I am typing this post. I will post again when he is done so you can see the new door.
